You donāt need to redecorate or make every room look like a show home. A clean, welcoming space, with clear surfaces and plenty of light, gives our photographer the best starting point. At Matthew Anthony, we use professional photography to present your home at its best. Before the appointment, work through the areas below. If youāre short on time, focus on the rooms buyers will see first: the living room, kitchen, main bedroom and outside space.
Give furniture a little breathing room so the layout is easy to understand. Clear dining tables and coffee tables, then add a simple finishing touch if you wish, such as flowers or a bowl of fruit. Move anything that blocks a doorway, window or attractive feature.
Clear washing up and most small appliances from the worktops. Wipe down surfaces, cupboard fronts, the hob and oven door. Put away tea towels, bins and pet bowls, and check that nothing is visible in the washing machine.
Make the beds neatly, smooth the bedding and put away laundry and loose clothing. Clear bedside tables of anything you would rather keep private. Thereās no need to empty a room of personality; just make its size and purpose easy to see.
Clean mirrors, taps, screens and tiles. Put away toiletries, toothbrushes, toilet brushes, bins and laundry baskets. Fresh, neatly hung towels are usually enough to finish the room.
The first photograph may be the front of your home, so sweep the entrance, move bins out of view and tidy any planting. In the garden, cut the grass if needed, clear paths and arrange outdoor furniture. If parking, a garage or a particular garden area is a selling point, please tell us so we can plan how best to show it.
Our photographer may make small adjustments as they move through the property, such as shifting a chair or straightening a cushion. Natural light and the weather can influence the order of the photographs, so weāll plan the visit around what works best for your home.
