Are Estate Agents Actually Human?
Date Published
08 July 2024
It's a fact that estate agents get a bad press. When polls about what the pubic think about different professions are published we're always down there with bankers, journalists and politicians!
That's a pretty big challenge for anyone who decides that helping people to buy and sell property is the job for them.
The thing is, it's actually a bit of an outdated perception to have. In the past our industry certainly had more than its fair share of wideboys and chancers - it's one of the reasons we started our own company to get away from those old stereotypes.
Today things are very different across the board. There are far more 'good' estate agents who enjoying working closely with sellers, buyers, tenants and landlords. Like us, most take pride in helping people.
However, there is a new problem for anyone trying to choose a professional to market their property for them - is their estate agent human?
AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been hitting headlines for all kinds of reasons for quite some time now. You might well have dabbled with Chatgpt or a similar online programme yourself.
Amongst the stories of how AI might start a third World War or steal everyone's jobs, it has quietly become something that many different businesses use every day.
In our line of work words are important. A picture might paint a thousand words, but to sell a home you need a well-written property description to really give a prospective buyer an idea of what it would be like to live there.
Many estate agents fall into the trap of 'the new thing'. Whilst it's always key to adapt and use new technologies and methods, not every innovation has positive impacts.
AI isn't actually 'intelligent'. It simply takes information it can find and rehashes it in a different way. Come to think of it, that's very much what a lazy estate agent does too!
Bespoke
AI is simply rewriting something it has 'read'. When numerous estate agents are then using that same process it simply means that there's very little human input.
We believe the human touch is at the heart of being good at our job. Of course that means listening and understanding what our clients are really after, but it goes much further too.
Our content is exactly that - our own. We write it, we think about it and we use it to connect with buyers using our own unique voice.
The result is that everything we do is bespoke - there's no 'one size fits all', no cutting corners by using lazy online tools.
From our valuations, to our photography, our marketing plans, guided viewings and of course all of our written words - it's all unique to each home we sell.
We are human estate agents!
